Consumer Reports Fall 2010 rankings signaled Toyota's return to the top of the automotive world.

As CNN recently reported,
"Consumer Reports Fall 2010 rankings of the most reliable vehicles included 17 Toyota models, the most of any automaker.
In December (2010), the magazine put five Toyotas on its list of vehicles likely to last beyond 200,000 miles; no other manufacturer had more than one vehicle on the list."

Perhaps this is why the Toyota Camry was the top-selling passenger car in the U.S. for the 9th straight year... beating the Honda Accord, Ford Fusion and Nissan Altima!

All new Toyota models come standard with the Star Safety System. This is just one reason why The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has recently recognized 5 Toyota models as a Top Safety Pick. IIHS rates a vehicle for how well it protects its occupants from front and side impacts, rollovers and rear impacts. Vehicles must also offer electronic stability control.

  • The Toyota Avalon -- IIHS Top Safety Pick for Large Cars, 2011 Models
  • The Toyota Corolla -- IIHS Top Safety Pick for Small Cars
  • The Toyota Highlander -- IIHS Top Safety Pick for Midsize SUVs
  • The Toyota Sienna -- IIHS Top Safety Pick for Minivans, 2011 Models
  • The Toyota Venza -- IIHS Top Safety Pick for Midsize SUVs

Edmunds conducted a review of new minivans in February 20111 and the Toyota Sienna SE was found to have "the best all-around package of comfort, performance and value in a minivan under $40,000." The Sienna beat the Honda Odyssey, which tied for 2nd place with the new Nissan Quest. The Chrysler and Dodge minivans came in 4th and 5th place. In June 2010, Edmunds listed the 2010 Toyota Highlander as "Consumer's Top Rated Vehicle." Edmunds also recognized Toyota vehicles for their low cost of ownership. In May 2010, it listed the following new Toyotas as "the lowest cost to own" in their segment:

  • Toyota Yaris, lowest cost to own coupe under $25,000 -- Edmunds.com
  • Toyota Yaris, lowest cost to own sedan under $15,000 -- Edmunds.com
  • Toyota Tacoma, lowest cost to own compact truck -- Edmunds.com
  • Toyota Sienna, lowest cost to own minivan/van -- Edmunds.com
